How To Create a Voronoi Sphere in MeshLab
Have you ever seen those amazing 3D printed voronoi structures and wondered if you can do it yourself? In this video I'll walk you through how to do exactly that with just a few simple steps. We'll be taking advantage of the many extremely powerful tools available within MeshLab - it really makes it a breeze.
Coming up soon, I'll show you how to repeat this process with any model while retaining specific areas of detail for functionality. Stay tuned!
You can download MeshLab and view all their documentation here:

Why Filament Tolerance is Important
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.6 лет назад
You've probably seen it a lot, but not really paid that much attention to it. In this video I demonstrate how much of a difference filament tolerances can make to your print quality. There's also some fun calculations in there too! blog: www.mattshub.com facebook: MattsHub3D twitter: MattsHub3D
Analysing STL Files with the 3D Hubs File Viewer
Просмотров 4,4 тыс.6 лет назад
There are thousands of STL files all over the internet, but not all of them are printable with our FDM machines. In this video I walk though analysing files with the powerful 3D Hubs file viewer to find any errors and see how printer-friendly they really are. blog: www.mattshub.com facebook: MattsHub3D twitter: MattsHub3D
Designing a Gyroid Vase

See the first video on gyroid infill here: ruclips.net/video/AVL3cUaArUE/видео.html In today's video I'll walk you through the process that I took to design and slice the gyroid vase from the previous video. This technique can also be used to create multi colour or multi material prints by assigning different extruders to each part of the model in Slic3r. Download the "artistic" version of Slic...
3D Printing With Gyroid Infill
Просмотров 34 тыс.6 лет назад
In this video we're looking at an experimental new infill pattern which uses the structure of a gyroid. This amazing pattern not only looks beautiful, but also works great for infill due to its strength. Keep an eye out for the next videos if you'd like to see some strength tests! Orientating Parts in Meshmixer

Hi everyone I've a problem after 3-th step "Filter -> Selection -> Select by Vertex Quality... Here is the screenshot of this failure drive.google.com/file/d/1xnmsCvVrcTuFaK1fEh-GTLoaWBwJNyK7/view?usp=sharing Any idea what is that?

Hello, I have the same problem. I resolved it with fitlter > selection > conditional vertice selection. And for the boolean expression i put (q >= 0.07 && q < 0.26) . There are no cursor here you shall have to choose the good values.

OBJ has lots of data stored in it that is not used in rendering and the file sizes are huge! if you wanna reduce the file size you can only import out the feature types that are visible in the final rendering and discard the inner features! I made a video on how to save some space exporting out the OBJ files here: ruclips.net/video/nRfTKjEH6CM/видео.html thanks for sharing Matt!

Great tutorial! Always wondered how these could be created. Before you create depth at around 5:58, would it be possible to export the flat geometry as a transparency map, e.g to then be mapped on other spheres in a modeling program?

If you look closely at the gyroid in the slicer, you'll see there are little bits of it free-floating in mid-air (at least in Slic3r / PrusaSlicer). What happens with these when printing?

Yeah I was gonna say - you ARE an excellent teacher! Nice work. I can't wait to see the video on how to preserve features (I'm trying to make a lamp shade, so I need the circle to mount the bulb and a few other features. I would be keen to know if you have any thoughts on optimizing the incoming mesh. Meshes that come in with revolved features sometimes have massive numbers of triangles coming in at a point at the axes. If you can't tell I'm a newbie to Meshlab, but in an hour and with your help I'm starting to feel more and more comfortable. Nice work Matt. I appreciate it.
